Viserion was taking great pleasure in torturing Erisdar. What else was he supposed to do? He really just wanted a battle, someone to go and fight. He'd finally gotten poison fog down ... to a degree. His fog was not deadly poison yet, it merely made one sick, but that was progress. And he was tired of waiting. Elendiel needed a break from his constant demands for her to teach him, which was why he was with Erisdar at the moment. Torturing the older dragon was the only thing that made him feel better about his situation. Then it happened. "Viserion, you are requested to come to the Queen immediately. It's time." Viserion couldn't stop the grin of excitement from covering his scaled face. "Forgive me, old one, but my Queen has requested my presence. Hopefully our battle begins today. Don't worry, once it's over I will return to continue your punishment. Until later, friend," he sneered at the older dragon as he left the room and took off towards Ryluth's domain. He was ready for this battle to begin. He felt like he'd been waiting ages. He just wanted to get out there already. erisdar

You can't hold me here forever ... so you'd better not be here when I get out.

Viserion had returned, no doubt to drown out his sorrows and boredom in torturing him. What a lovely pastime. These torture sessions always put Erisdar in a sarcastic and foul mood. He had to survive them somehow…Erisdar admitted that Viserion was definitely adept at his skill set, he would be a formidable foe someday when he was able to escape this torture chamber and actually defend himself. What Erisdar didn’t know, is that his chance would come much sooner than expected. After hours of misery, the torment suddenly subsided as the younger dragons' concentration broke. He had just received a message. Erisdars mind had been too focused on keeping the walls in his own mind erected, he had missed the majority of the message that had been sent to the other dragon. The queen needed Viserion for something. What was he, the queen's pet? Regardless of the reason, Erisdar welcomed the reprieve from the former agony he had been experiencing. Viserion, then, was gracious enough to explain the need for his leave, answering some of Erisdars questions, but in the process creating more. A battle? Today? With whom? Before he could ask any questions his oppressor was gone. As he sat there trying to make sense of what was happening, words started playing through his mind, a message of some sort. Erisdar was taken-back until he realized it was a message from the queen and was not sent to him only. From the sounds of it, she was determined to rally her followers and expedite battle. One word stuck out in his mind, the target of her rage. Excalibur. All at once, Erisdar knew. He couldn’t tell how, but he knew that was where he would find Selethina. Instead of the joy that should have accompanied this revelation, a cold pit of dread settled in his stomach. He had to get to Selethina before it was too late. Erisdar had no plan, but he knew he had to escape...tonight. There was no other option, Selethina was in danger and he had to get to her. His mind raced with possible escape routes and fears of what might happen if he did not succeed. Erisdar knew that fear could be debilitating if unchecked, so he forced his thoughts back to the task at hand, getting out of this rotting jail cell and past the guards. Hours later…. Erisdar rolled his powerful shoulder muscles and relaxed. This was his only chance, he couldn’t mess it up. He had to time it perfectly and use skills he hadn’t used since his imprisonment. His thoughts wavered, would he be able to pull this off? During his time in the queen's guard he had become quite competent in his art of manipulating and reading minds, but he was rusty. Viserion had always been somewhere nearby throughout the last century and the queen had employed several of her best mind dragons to be outside his jail cell at all times, thus preventing him from doing much with his past abilities. Since his adversary had left earlier in the day, Erisdar had listened and even risked reaching out to read the minds of the guards in the dungeon walkways. The risk had paid off, Erisdar realized that the mind dragon outside his cell was a complete amateur. The queen must have thought she was safe in taking all her best dragons with her. Well, she had underestimated him. Instead of becoming complacent after a hundred years in the wet, dank cell Erisdar was more ready than ever to take advantage of an opportunity to get out of this place. And with the more experienced guards gone, this would be easier than he had expected. The youthful dragon had felt very esteemed when he had received a “message” to come immediately and directly to the inner chambers of the court. “The queen had an important mission for him to perform”. Even after a hundred years Erisdar had been able to fool the young dragon with his mind tricks. After he was out of the way, it had been easy for Erisdar to make his way to the upper doors of the dungeon. He had encountered a few other guards on his way out, but as he had calculated earlier, Ryluth had taken the best of everyone with her. It wasn't that the guards left behind were incompetent, it's just that Erisdar was better. They hadn’t caused a problem for him, although a few of them would wake up the next day not remembering a thing of the night before. Erisdar felt as though a great weight had been lifted from his shoulders when he cleared the doors of the queen's dungeon, but an even heavier weight settled in his soul as he thought of Selethina. He had no idea if the battle had already commenced, or if he was too late and that did little to settle his feelings of apprehension. The freedom he felt as he spread his wings and gained altitude was something he had craved for a century. He willed his mind and body to prepare themselves for the battle he knew was ahead, and soared through the clear skies. viserion
