Ryluth was furious at Verath's betrayal. "After all that I do, after all I have done ... that imp still thinks it's a good idea for abandon me for her father? I'll show her. I'll show both of them!" She stormed out of her quarters, looking among the sentries for the telepathic dragon among them. She'd decided long ago that telepathic dragons were quite useful and she wanted to keep one among her guard at all times. They could be very convenient and useful and right now, she wanted one. She wanted all the dragons who'd abandoned her to realize what a big mistake they'd made. Then she didn't care anymore. Why should she look for a dragon when all she had to do was tell it to step forward. "I require a short audience with my telepathic dragon. In private," she said, spinning around quickly and striding back into her quarters. When she turned around, the other dragon was right on her tail. Literally. "Excuse me," was all she said, but her voice was so full of danger that it took a hundredth of a second for the dragon to realize its mistake. They quickly jumped off her tail. "I have an important job for you. How far can you project a message?" "As far as you want it, my Queen." the dragon responded almost immediately. Ryluth was pleased to sense his nervousness. He had no idea what was going on. "Good. I want you to send a message to all the dragons who can hear you. Including me." She quickly rehearsed what she wanted the dragon to include in the message then sat and watched while he thought about it for a few seconds. Then he relayed it. "This message is to all within the sound of my thoughts. Queen Ryluth demands that every faithful dragon come to her aide. We have all been betrayed and our Beloved Queen intends to help us make our betrayers pay dearly. The group Excalibur, with its dragons that act as human pets, has hurt us for the last time. Come to us by nightfall and we will go to them, and destroy them. If you are not with us by then, you will be considered as against us and your future will be the same as the Dragon Pets in Excalibur. Come declare your loyalty to the almighty, all-powerful Queen Ryluth and she will reward you beyond your wildest dreams."
Ryluth smiled. Of course, this message would not change the minds of those in Excalibur, she never thought that it would. But it would force those who were not a part of her court or Excalibur to choose sides, and she had a pretty good idea which side they would choose. As for Excalibur ... now they would know what was coming. Now they would fear her and know, beyond a doubt, that Ryluth was not a dragon to be trifled with. "Repeat that two times. That way we'll know everyone heard it."VERITAS selethina VERATH RYAGIN erisdar viserion elendiel noctus OOC: I thought this would be fun. Manisha chatted a fair bit if and when she was nervous. He'd learnt this over the years and as she sat on his back leaning against his neck slightly, he couldn't help but smile fondly. Under normal circumstances, most people would have been hard pushed to get three sentences from his rider, much less three polite ones but right now, the threat of imminent death in a fiery battle upon them, she seemed rather keen to talk. She wasn't even staying on one subject for long but rather drifting between them, trying to avoid the subject of the fight they all knew was coming. He replied when necessary, in short sentences, not feeling the same urge to chat as her but answering none-the-less aware that his words were of some comfort to her as hers were to him.
It took him a moment to become aware of the words being spoken to him by someone other than his rider. Confused and slightly taken aback, he looked around for the source of the mysterious voice currently ringing through his head. It took him a moment to recognise it as telepathy. At first, he assumed that it must have been one of their commanders Ryker or Elin perhaps who had asked one of the telepathic dragons to convey a message or an order to the troops. As he listened to the words however, his heart sank, realizing who they were from and who was sending them.
He found himself compelled to listen, unwilling to miss a single word. The blue dragon listened to each of the three messages, even although they were the same.
He was afraid, he supposed that they all were. A comparatively young dragon such as he should not be facing such a prospect as having to fight of a large horde of his own kind.
Were it up to him of course, none of this would happen. He didn't consider him the traitor that the message - doubtlessly sent by the dragon queen or one of her followers - made him out to be. Being a traitor meant turning your back on your own kind, didn't it? He'd never really done that, at least not as he saw things. His great crime was taking pity on a starving human child, indeed on her entire species and wanting to protect them. That didn't make him a betrayer, did it? Not when he wanted dragons to live as well, as the equals of humans. He believed that most of the other dragons here at Excalibur, who'd almost certainly received the same message, wanted the same thing as he did.
There was no going back to Ryluth's side. Not now, not ever. He wouldn't return to the others until he could do so with Manisha with no fear of her being so much as frowned upon. A human pet? If that was a way of saying a human's friend, then so be it. He accepted the title with pride.
Noctus narrowed his red eyes as he looked to the sky. Some dragons would hear and they would follow the queen. She had to be insane if she thought that any of them at Excalibur would listen, at least he prayed that they would not. Yes, there would be a fight, maybe even his last but sooner death than to simply turn away whilst what remained of humanity cried.
His rider had sensed that something was up, she peered down at him, leaning precariously over his horns. Concern filled her dark eyes. "Just a fly buzzing near my ear." He assured her.

Selethina was busy showing Verath how to get to the Excalibur campsite. She wasn't exactly sure how this was going to go- what Ryagin was going to think of it, but she felt like it was the right thing to do. For some reason, she trusted Verath. Then she heard a message in her mind. Her first thought flew to Erisdar, but it only took her an instant to know it wasn't him. The voice was different, almost cruel. She listened to the message in dismay and looked at Verath from the corner of her eye. Could it be that Verath was the betrayer? After all, she did want to talk to Ryagin randomly. Maybe she decided to leave Ryluth? Selethina was confused. At the same time, peace entered her. This message was a confirmation that her vision really was going to come true. Selethina never had a false vision, but she'd always been worried that one day her gift would fail her. At least it wasn't going to fail her now. She knew exactly what was coming. VERATH

It was a nice, calm day and Elendiel was enjoying her time on her own. Lately she'd been so busy with tutoring Viserion about poison and acid that she hadn't had much alone time, something she sorely missed. Sure, there was something about the dark dragon that drew her in, but at the same time she loathed him.
After all, he was very close to Ryluth. He basically did the Dragon Queen's every bidding and Elendiel despised that. Any dragon with eyes could see that Ryluth was a master manipulator. Sure, she was the queen of all dragons, the one reason dragons were on the earth again today, but total conquest? Elendiel could not believe that was the only option.
At the same time, she wasn't sure what to do, for several reasons. Firstly, she felt like she was being watched now. With Viserion visiting her constantly and seeming to watch her every move, she felt constricted. Like she could hardly move without someone taking notice. That was something she did not like at all. Elendiel was a very private, independent dragon and she didn't like being encroached upon.
Secondly, she'd heard whispers before now, whispers of a group called Excalibur. She had no idea how to find them or even if they would let her join their cause, but from what she'd heard ... it was something to be considered. Apparently they weren't interested in conquest, they were interested in peace. That was something Elendiel longed for. Something she'd been developing recently was the ability to pull poison out of things. It worked well with berries, but she wanted to see if it would work on something living. Sadly enough, she had nothing to try it out on. Maybe with Excalibur ... but first she would have to find them. That is, if they even existed.
Then she received Ryluth's message. Her immediate response was that she had to move. A few months ago, no one would have taken notice of her not appearing at Ryluth's demand, but since she was working with Viserion now, surely someone would notice her absence. And there was no question of her going. Elendiel would rather die than be one of the dragons under Ryluth's command. She was her own dragon and made her own choices.
The one positive aspect of the situation was that it acknowledged the existence of Excalibur. Finally, she knew it was real. She could hardly contain her excitement. But how to find the group? That was the question.
Still, the smart decision would be to look for the camp immediately, since staying at her home would probably find her imprisoned and executed. So she took off immediately, not sure where she was going. It didn't matter. As long as she got somewhere Viserion couldn't find her. Or anyone else, for that matter.

Viserion was already on his way to the Queen, since she'd sent a message to him requesting his presence. Then another message entered his mind and he couldn't help himself. He laughed and grinned wickedly. This was perfect! Now all dragons had a choice. They could choose Ryluth or choose obliteration. He loved it! Finally, the battle he'd been waiting for was coming. He hurried as quickly as he could, anxious to reach Ryluth. He wanted to know what happened and what their battle plan was. After all, besides Verath, he was her next dragon in command. She would- more likely than not- share her plans with him. Things could not have been going better for him. He landed and quickly made his way to her chambers. The sentries parted for him, knowing him well enough that they didn't ask what he was doing here. Viserion came here frequently to confer with Ryluth, so this wasn't anything new. He waited outside while one of her sentry dragons knocked for him. He couldn't believe it was finally time! RYLUTH

It had been a long day. The dragon Viserion had shown up earlier, no doubt to drown out his sorrows and boredom in torturing him. Erisdar was sick of these torture sessions, sick of his musty dark cell, and sick of being a prisoner. His plan had always been to escape, but when he did, he wanted it to be a clean break. He would not taste freedom, only to be seized and thrown back into the dungeon because of poor planning on his part. And so he had bided his time patiently.
After being locked in the dungeon for upwards of 100 years, with few visitors or outside connections aside from his torturers, Erisdar was honestly quite startled to receive the queen's message. At first, he had wondered why after a hundred years of silence his mother was finally addressing him. He promptly realized the message, with its insults, threats and promises, had not been sent just to him. The queen must have used one of her telepathic guards to rely the message to all dragons in the range of hearing. She must be sure of her chances for such a bold move.
Receiving the message unveiled a variety of questions and possibilities in Erisdar’s mind. Unfortunately, being a captive had its serious disadvantages. The only news one received in the dungeons was whispers here and there among the guard, and even those had to be taken with a grain of salt. From the sounds of it, his mother was determined to rally her followers and expedite battle. One word stuck out in his mind, the target of her rage. Excalibur. All at once, Erisdar knew. He was unsure how, but he knew that was where he would find Selethina. Instead of the joy that should have accompanied this revelation, a cold pit of dread settled in his stomach. He had to get to Selethina before it was too late.

Ryagin had long ago accept the fact that he would never hear loving words from his queen again. But that did not stop a pang in his heart when he thought of the days before he had come to think on his own. Days when the two would spend hours soaring the skies, speaking with only each other. When they arrived home they would curl up in her throne room and all would seem to be right. Those days were centuries past, pleasant memories that cam back with a sting. But even as he missed the simplicity of his life before he had left Ryluth's court, he knew he would do it all again. What she did to the humans was not right. What the humans had done to the dragons was not right either. Now he and Elin had found a compromise. And yet everyone seemed to be against them, trying to tear apart what seemed to be the best option for survival of both races.
It was during his and Elin's afternoon nap that the message came. Her voice was in his mind, and his body was on alert. How could she have found them? He crouched over Elin's waking form, he would not let Ryluth take her. But as he listened to the message he realized she was not here, she was in her palace. And she was preparing for war.
A small part of him rejoiced in hearing her voice as it did anytime he was near enough to hear her, but that part was smothered by the certainty that the battle had come. There was no turning back now. War was upon them.

The instant the message was sent, Ryluth sent the dragon out of her chambers. She wanted to be alone now. Besides, she had nothing more to say to him or any other dragon at the moment. Not for several hours. It was time for her to transform into battle-mode. No mercy. Still, as she was preparing herself for the upcoming battle, Ryluth was pacing, seething with fury at the situation she found herself in. She was not a patient dragon. Why did she say she was going to wait until nightfall? All she wanted to do at the moment was take off with all the dragons she had and attack that lowly rabble! How dare Ryagin start a group to rebel against her! And how dare Verath actually listen to the deserter! Granted, Ryluth knew she was really the one who chased Ryagin away, but that was in the past. She refused to think on it, refused to give attention to the feelings that memory stirred within her. All she focused on was the boiling anger. After a time, she heard a knock on her door. She was about ready to blast someone, but then she heard Viserion's name. Ah. Viserion. She'd almost forgotten about her perfect lap-dog, er, dragon. He was extremely loyal, catering to her every whim and desire and she was pleased that he'd responded to her message so quickly. "At least not all dragons have forgotten how powerful I am," she soothed herself. "Enter."
She gave a wicked grin when she saw the door enter. "The day you have been waiting for is finally here Viserion. Are you ready?" viserion

Viserion entered the room when he heard her speak. He couldn't help the sly smile that took over. Ryluth was ticked. It was clearly obvious and it meant that he was going to get what he wanted: war. Not that he'd doubted he would. The moment her message went out he was thrilled. He knew Ryluth didn't make empty threats and he was almost shivering in anticipation. He bowed his head to her respectfully. "Of course I am, my Queen. I've been waiting for this day for almost a century." His gaze narrowed as he started thinking about what wasn't ready. "I wish I could have perfected my poison fog before now. It won't be very effective in this battle." He shrugged off his annoyance, replacing it with confidence. "Either way, I have plenty of ways to attack the enemy that they won't expect. What do you want me to do to prepare?" He asked, wondering if she had a job for him before it started. Hopefully not. He was already ready for this battle. RYLUTH

Ryluth smiled. This was going to be a surprise for Ryagin and his precious band of rebels and renegades. He knew a bit of what Viserion could do- he'd been a part of it for many years- but he knew nothing about the new developments. This was going to be fun. "No matter. I'm sure you have enough Fogs to render Excalibur completely helpless. If only we could make your Torture Fog available to more than one at a time." She sighed, annoyed. "How long must we wait until we leave? I want to get there around nightfall," she explained, wanting him to confirm her thoughts. She wasn't exactly sure where the rebel camp was, but she thought it was somewhere in the vicinity of Lake Mortez ... if her information was correct. viserion

Viserion nodded, listening intently to his Queen. He appreciated her recognition for his talents and expected to put them to good use with this upcoming battle. Honestly, nightfall couldn't come soon enough for him. He didn't want to wait any longer than he had to. Maybe ... maybe he didn't have to wait long at all. "One day, My Queen. One day I will figure out a way to make that Fog widely available. Until then, I'll take pleasure in using it on as many as I can in turns." He smiled as he thought of how wonderful that would be, to be unlimited with his Fog. He would literally be unstoppable. "My Queen, the decision is yours. We can wait and arrive there at nightfall or we can leave now and instruct everyone to meet us en route. Whichever you prefer," he bowed his head to hide his wicked smirk, not that she'd mind it. He was almost certain that he knew what her decision would be: to leave now. She was as excited about this as he was. RYLUTH

Ryluth appraised Viserion as he spoke to her, something close to reverence in his tone. She approved. She liked anyone who was wise enough to know that she was more powerful than they were, albeit in a different way most of the time. However, she hadn't lived on the earth for so long just to allow one of her descendants to surpass her in power in a few mere centuries. No, no. It would take much longer than that for any dragon to grow more powerful than she. Even so, she liked what Viserion was saying. He was right! Why should she wait? She could leave now and inform all dragons to join her on her way. So that's what she did. "We're leaving," she told him before walking to her doors and demanding, "Where did my message dragon go?"It took mere seconds for him to stand forward. "Send this out and repeat it three times," she ordered, telling him exactly what to say. She listened as he sent it out. "To all my dear ones: the battle on the Excalibur Rebel group is commencing. I will take flight from my home in mere minutes and will meet all who have not yet arrived on the way. We are headed towards Lake Mortez. Remember what we are fighting for. Our way of life, the right to keep our slaves and food just the way they are. Do not let them gain power over us once more. We have already proved we are superior. Help me show them what their place is. Help me show them our might and glory. Come to me. We will not fail."
The message was over quickly and Ryluth commanded all of her guards to follow her. "Let us be off!" She took off, flying toward the City of Gorgoth where a hoard of dragons were awaiting her. Of course they were. She was their Queen, about to lead them into glorious battle. Why wouldn't they be waiting for her? "Come, my children. Let us show these humans and traitors what we are made of," was all she said before taking off and leading the dragons toward the Lake. It was a long flight, but it would pass quickly. She had much to think on, after all. -- The end -- (OOC: If you want to respond, feel free. I'm planning on throwing Ryluth into battle threads now. Maybe I'll start one of her at Lake Mortez ...)
